As a child, I looked forward to Sundays, spending lazy afternoons watching movies and anticipating mom's delicious meal to pig out on and then fall into food coma nap time. Ah, that amazing chicken rice soup, roast and rice pudding for dessert was the highlight. Sunday morning we went to church all groomed with nails done from the night before. Typically we had coffee and pastry at the cafe across the street after mass. I would typically have a queijada de nata or a fofa (eclair) with a pop. Loved Sundays.
I want Elliott to have the same memories, the same feeling of how special Sundays. A day of no work, spend time with family and get all dressed up for church. We go to church with my mom and go for coffee afterwards. Elliott looks forward to this special time together. I'm making a point of not doing any work on Sundays and just chilling reading and scrapbooking. Next step is making a weekly special roast meal.
Elliott was so funny today. At church he sang ALLELUIA out loud and laughed when Father Ricardo was preaching the homily "Peace be with you..." repeated twice with his accent made Elliott giggle and say, "He's funny mommy"! Mom and I were laughing at how cute he is in church. We went for coffee after at a new spot and then headed home for Ellie's nap.
Julian and Dan dropped in to say hello and the boys got to play together. Lined up trains all over the floor and hit a ball with plastic golf clubs... Too cute. Elliott yells out to Julian as he's leaving "Thanks for coming and have a nice trip"... Too much!
Elliott wanted to watch Mickey Mouse yet again on the computer... And that's when he made me laugh the hardest today...
"oh, computer not working daddy... Maybe the tv works?" guess he got tired of waiting for the updates to download. Then I told Elliott he looked like a penguin - then he asked his first "what's that?" and lastly, Elliott started saying he's almost three while holding up his hand with three fingers up. He just had to call grandma with this new piece of information.
I just love spending time with Elliott. It was a great Sunday.
